Posted on: 30/03/2022News From HeadIt is only right and proper that I should start this piece by thanking Mrs Crocker for all that she did for us whilst serving as our Executive Head of School. I am sure you will be pleased to know that she continues as Head of School at Ashill so I am sure we will still be seeing her at future Small School Hub and wider Trust events. At the moment, she is rather poorly and I hope will join me in wishing her a speedy recovery. In our Collective Worships at the moment, we are exploring our value of Integrity. We have thought about how this means doing the right nothing, even when nobody is looking and, more recently, how Integrity is all about who we really are – the type of person we really are, which has led to some soul-searching throughout the school!Categories: 1 CategorySchool News
Posted on: 21/01/2022News from the Head of SchoolNews from the Head of School It has been so lovely to welcome the children back to the new Spring Term and wonderful to see them all looking so enthusiastic after the break. We have lots of exciting events planned for the new term and we start with our first sports tournament in a while with year six joining forces with the Ashill year six and heading off to a dodgeball match hosted by Richard Huish. We have SPACE theatre visiting us to give a performance for both key stages and Oak class will also be working with and performing with the Jackdaw Opera Company on their version of the Barber of Seville - The Stylist of Somerset! It is really lovely to feel that with spring heading our way we are finally starting to open up again to all the wonderful experiences that are out there. Sadly we will be saying goodbye to Sue Wilson, as she moves into a new role and a fresh challenge within the trust. Sue has made a huge contribution to the life and development of Hatch Beauchamp and been at the heart of the school family. We wish her every happiness but she will be missed. Kayleigh Lawrence will be stepping into the administrator role and we look forward to welcoming her to the school. Joanne Crocker ETHOS Categories: 1 CategorySchool News
Posted on: 17/12/2021News from the Head TeacherNews from the Head of School As the term and the year draws to a close I have been reflecting on all the positives the Autumn term has brought. I read back through the newsletters that have gone out this term intending to pick out one or two highlights but found every paper was filled with amazing learning experiences, children supporting each other and a whole range of activities that show how the community supports the school and in turn the school supports the community. So before we move forward into the new year I wanted to say some thank yous. Thank you to the children who embrace every opportunity with enthusiasm. Thank you to the team in school who have worked tirelessly in pursuit of excellence. Thank you to FOHBS for giving their time and energy to raising funds for the school. Sadly though we will be saying goodbye to some valued members of our team. We will miss Miss Grabham greatly as she embarks on new challenges and although Mrs Poynter has been with us just for a term she too has made a big contribution to the school. I do hope you all have a safe, healthy and wonderful Christmas holiday. I look forward to seeing you all in the new year. Posted on: 11/11/2021Remembrance DayThe whole school came together on the playground at 10.45 on Thursday to hold our annual Act of Remembrance. A number of children contributed and a minute’s silence was held at 11.00. The silence was marked by the ringing of our school bell before and after the silence. We were incredibly impressed and proud with how our children conducted themselves – even the youngest were still and silent throughout and seemed to understand the importance of the occasion. Thank you to all who donated to the poppy appeal this year. We managed to raise a fantastic £47.30!Categories: 1 CategorySchool News
